I find that my sanity has been protected by laughing about Hillary’s run for the presidency than crying about it. And there certainly is a lot to laugh about. Then again – as witnessed by Friday’s turn of events, there can also be a lot of pain.
.
Hillary began this campaign season as the presumptive nominee. Back in 2006, Mark Blumenthal, a Washington, D.C., Democratic pollster and author of the influential blog Mystery Pollster said, “To be sure, she is extremely popular among liberals and African American voters, key parts of the Democratic Party base. Strength with the base makes Clinton the presumptive nominee.“
.
Oddly enough, liberals and African-Americans are the main parts of the Democratic Party base that have abandoned Hillary. Of course, she is still holding on to women, poor whites and the under-educated. I especially find it humorous that every time she sets the bar and Obama passes that bar, her team raises the bar a little higher. There is a joke out there that claims Hillary will still be raising the bar when Obama is passing on the reins to his presidential successor in 2017.
.
One of Hillary’s arguments for staying in the race is that she has been carrying many of the larger states, but as I have said all along – and surely the Super Delegates are just as intelligent or more so than me – that doesn’t mean that Obama won’t carry California, New York, Pennsylvania, etc. in November. In fact a recent poll shows that Obama is now doing better among California voters than Hillary when it comes to a head to head match up with McCain. Obama beats the Arizona Senator 47 – 40 compared to Hillary beating McCain 43 – 40. So that argument is pretty much out the window.
.
Then there is the pain. The pain of hearing Hillary make gaffes like she did on Friday. The pain of knowing the Democratic party should be uniting now and taking square aim at John McCain and the Republicans instead of continuing this primary farce. There is the pain of seeing how this “uncivil war” between Hillary and Barack supporters has turned many former friends on each other. One blogger who recently closed a blog was one of my favorite people, but animosity continued to grow. This person actually believed that Obama supporters were naive idiots who were merely chasing a dream than supporting a candidate. Each time a negative ad was run by Hillary or some form of dirty politics came from inside the Clinton campaign, this blogger would blame it on the dirty politics of the Obama campaign. It made no sense. Eventually I had my fill. It’s a shame that things like this had to happen. There are still blogger out there who take out their frustrations about Obama getting so close to the nomination that they tend to lash out at Obama supporters. This could have long-lasting repercussions and this is a pain that make take a long time to heal.
.
Hillary wonders why many of us want her to suspend her campaign. She is curious as to why we view her as a Don Quixote, tilting lances at windmills. We want the pain to end and the best way for the healing to begin is for Hillary to stop this camp-pain now.

I found your site on Google and read a few of your other entires. Nice Stuff. I’m looking forward to reading more from you.
I don’t know who is worse: Hillary Clinton, for her racial and gender politics or her crazy-ass supporters who stand at her feet like Guards, ready to hurl the latest “ism” or “ist” at you for calling her on the bullshit that comes out her piehole.
Well said, Robert. I do think it is sad that progressive bloggers who should be banding together are feeling such animosity. I hope that this changes once the primary season (finally!) ends.
While the Republican party is wasting iinto the wind, while the Democrats are being destroyed from within.
