The best reason for an Obama presidency

If the white hat fits, you must admit, that Obama is the logical choice. There are several good reasons to vote for Barack Obama, but perhaps the best reason has nothing and everything to do with the United States.  Huh?  How could it have nothing AND everything?  I’m glad I asked.  The reputation of this nation has been damaged – BADLY – by George W. Bush and his policies.  I don’t know how many times I have mentioned that after 9/11/01, we had the world on a string.  The whole world was in our hands and we had an opportunity to heal age old rifts.  Instead of using this good will in a positive way, Bush decided to thumb his nose at the rest of the world.

.

Now we have another opportunity to turn around our reputation.  In country after country, foreign citizens are looking hopefully at the possibility of an Obama presidency.   For too many years, they’ve looked at the cowboy policy of George W. Bush and his take no prisoners attitude.  After all, that’s the way many foreigners look at this country.  We’re all a bunch of cowboys still living in the old west.  What we need to do is give them a good guy cowboy.  The man in the white hat, a Roy Rogers type, perhaps a new Lone Ranger.  Someone who seeks to do the right thing, but in a way that is both fair and justified.  If the white hat fits – we must admit – that Obama is that man.

.

The next president will have to end the war and occupation of Iraq.  The next president will have to turn our economy around.  The next president will have to focus on fixing the environment and finding better and cleaner renewable sources of energy and turning green and peace into economic windfalls for the US.  The next president will have to fix the health care system in the United States.  The next president of the United States will have to fix our reputation in the world.  I have faith that Barack Obama will make huge inroads toward those goals and many cases, he may solve them completely.

.

I can hope and that’s what Obama’s campaign is all about.  Hope … and change!
