A two “man” race
Many of the pundits are predicting that Hillary Clinton will be the beneficiary of the vacuum created by John Edward’s sudden departure. They believe that the “white” voters who went for Edwards will go for Clinton – especially in the South.
.
I do have a problem with the way race and stereotypes have been pounced on by the so-called 21st Century media. What I’m hearing from the pundits is that most “white” voters would never elect a black man and that “whites” in the south are especially bigoted. I’m not sure I buy that, but hey, they are the one’s making money prognosticating politics.
.
I am sorry to see Edwards go. I like John Edwards – hell, I was actually voting for him in 2004 since I was never a John Kerry fan. I liked his populist message and had it not been for the circus like atmosphere of the “woman and the black“, I believe I would have been an Edwards supporter. However, the pragmatist in me knew that Edward’s campaign was doomed from the beginning. I hope both Clinton and Obama take Edward’s anti-poverty goal to heart and make it one of the top issues of the campaign.
.
With it looking more and more like the Republican nominee will be John McCain, the Democrats stand a good chance of getting caught with their pants down again – and I feel as if Hillary Clinton will lose this race if she is the nominee.
.
What we need right now is Obama – someone who has proven that he can pull independents, moderates and even Republicans votes. His message of hope is resonating with everyone but the staunch Democrats and the staunch Republicans. I’m hoping the Kennedy endorsements didn’t come too late. I’m hoping John Edwards decides to endorse Obama before Super Tuesday. I don’t see Edwards endorsing Clinton, especially after joining with Obama on a message of change – and let’s face it folks, Clinton does NOT represent change.
.
I also believe both Obama and Clinton need to start ratcheting up Iraq as an issue. With McCain saying he believes we need to stay in Iraq for another Hundred years, that might end up being more of an issue than anything other than the economy.

Edwards is not going anywhere! He was courted by both clinton and Obama before he even did his concession speech. I wrote about this and everything else you just mentioned. Have no fear! Edwards is a progressive and his demeaner and message is best suited for Obama who he will endorse whan the time is right. He told hie supporters long ago that as long as he is breathing their message will be told and fought for.
It behhoves him to wait a bit and let Hillary and Obama dig a hole saying how much they will do to help those Edwards championed. In the end it will be the war monger McCain and Giuliani facing off Peace and unity in Obama Edwards.
If none of the nightmare scenarios I have been talking about occur Obama will be the man. I am just very concerned whoever the powers are behind the right will never allow another unifier like JFK to happen. It is very prophetic the Kennedy’s coming out for Obama the way they did! I can’t stop shaking my head.
I was kind of sad to hear Edwards pull out of the race. I was kind of expecting it though. We just can’t sit back and allow Hillary to win though. That will pretty much insure McCain will be the next president.
I was also an Edwards fan but now I am for Obama. Hillary will either lose to McCain, or finish the destruction of America that Bush has launched with their forever wars.

Robert,
I’ve heard the same stupidity from the chattering class. It makes no sense and it smacks of racism.
What I’m hearing from Illinois Dems is, Edwards is quietly being mentioned as Attorney General in an Obama administration. I think this is a perfect role for Edwards and he will shine.
I have a GALLUP poll up today that shows Obama pulling to 6 points of the Borg Queen nationally. His numbers are almost in the statistical margin of error. Think about it, the Borg Queen had a commanding 20 point lead nationally as recently as November. The more she and Billary wander the country, dishing out their unique brand of smear politics, the less voters like them.
hm……….I say Hillary is going to have a win over obama by like 40% then as elections get closer 30%, 10% until OIbama wins. This is the same crud that happened with Bush and kerry. Except Hilary might commit suicide or cheat on Clinton lulz
